Armenia’s Mkrtchyan wins silver at EWF 2025 European Junior & U23 Championships

Armenian athletes have won two more medals at the EWF 2025 European Junior & U23 Championships in Durrës, Albania.

Narek Mkrtchyan, competing in the men’s 79kg Junior category, won silver. In the snatch event, Mkrtchyan successfully lifted 145 kg and then 150 kg, placing fourth in this category. In the clean and jerk, with his first attempt of 185 kg, Mkrtchyan set a new European record in the total. He also lifted 188 kg in this event, earning second place. With a combined total of 338 kg, Mkrtchyan became the silver medalist.

Martin Poghosyan, competing in the same category, failed in snatch event. In the clean and jerk, the Armenian athlete lifted 175 kg and 182 kg, earning third place in this event.
