The government is increasing the 2026 budget of the Ministry of Healthcare by 44 billion 313 million drams, due to the introduction of the universal health insurance system, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan said on Thursday.
“For 2026, we have planned 44 billion 313 million drams more than in 2025. The 2026 budget will amount to 210 billion 911 million drams. The increases in this area are among the largest. In 2026, the Ministry of Healthcare will see the biggest budget increase among all ministries, which is due to the introduction of the universal health insurance system next year,” Hovhannisyan told lawmakers at a joint committee session about the 2026 state budget bill.
