Armenian Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan described Euronest as an important platform for strengthening closer ties between the European Union and the Eastern Partnership countries.
Speaking at the Euronest plenary session in Yerevan, the Speaker welcomed the co-chairs and members of the Euronest delegation, emphasizing the importance of deepening ties between the European Union and the Eastern Partnership countries.
“Parliamentary cooperation with the EU, as well as the Eastern Partnership, have made a tremendous contribution to the consolidation of democratic reforms in Armenia. We have clearly chosen the path of democratization and reform, and we are determined to continue on this course,” Simonyan said.
He said that unprecedented progress has been achieved in recent years across almost all areas of Armenia–EU bilateral cooperation, including political, economic, security, and defense sectors. “Dialogue on visa liberalization is also advancing rapidly. Armenia is committed to the effective implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. I am confident that the recently agreed new partnership agenda will help strengthen new priorities in our cooperation,” the Speaker of Parliament said.
Speaker Simonyan also recalled that in March of this year, the parliament adopted the bill on a civic initiative to launch Armenia’s process of accession to the European Union. “We are pleased to witness such an active stance from our society regarding European integration,” he added.
