The My Step Foundation has denied a report generated in Russian social media alleging that it received a 1,5-million-dollar donation from the Azerbaijani SOCAR national oil and gas company via European companies.
In a statement on Wednesday, the My Step Foundation said that the report is disinformation.
“In response to the publications circulating on Russian Telegram channels, we announce that the foundation has never received financial support or donations from Azerbaijani or any foreign suspicious sources, and has never been involved in any type of transaction with them. Such claims are baseless and untrue. The reports are open to the public, and anyone interested can access information about both annual donations and financial activities. These reports are available on the foundation’s official website: https://mystep.foundation/hy/reports/. Moreover, the foundation undergoes an independent audit every year. The foundation processes donations through internationally accepted open and transparent mechanisms (https://mystep.foundation/hy/donors/). Their publication is carried out within the established procedures, respecting the rights of donors who wish to remain anonymous. Such confidentiality is fully legal and a common practice in the operations of charitable foundations and the humanitarian sector in general. The foundation publishes annual financial and content-related reports on its website. The "My Step" Foundation has never engaged in any transactions that could violate the principles of transparency and credibility in its operations. The circulating reports regarding transfers from Azerbaijani sources are entirely disinformation," the statement reads.
