The OSCE welcomes the process of dissolving the OSCE Minsk Group initiated by Armenia and Azerbaijan, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Finland’s FM Elina Valtonen said in Yerevan at a joint press conference with Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.

“We have consistently observed Armenia’s commitment to the peace agenda, despite all the challenges. I also welcome the joint initiative to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group structures. We hope this process will be completed no later than December,” Valtonen said.

The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office emphasized that peace must be sustainable and reaffirmed the organization's readiness to support the process.

Armenia and Azerbaijan, during the peace summit on August 8 in Washington brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, jointly appealed to the OSCE to disband the Minsk Group, which was set up in the 1990s with the stated mission of finding a resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
