Active preparations are underway toward intensifying economic ties between Armenia and Iran and implementing the deal on launching new joint enterprises, the Armenian Ministry of Economy told Armenpress.

The agreement on opening new joint productions was announced earlier in September by the Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, Mohammad Atabak.

“In the context of the issues raised by the Iranian minister, the parties emphasized the necessity of forming working groups in order to elevate cooperation to an institutional level and to ensure the effective implementation of the agreements.
The Armenian Ministry of Economy, for its part, has provided all the necessary information to advance the process into a practical phase and is awaiting a response from the Iranian side,” the Armenian Ministry of Economy told Armenpress when asked to elaborate.

“As for the establishment of joint production enterprises and factories, the sectors under discussion are diverse. Within the framework of its economic diversification policy, the Republic of Armenia is ready, if necessary, to provide support for investment initiatives in various sectors,” the ministry said in written answers.

The ministry also stated that the details of the programs and timelines will be clarified during upcoming bilateral discussions. At this stage, active preparatory work is underway.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Armenia-Iran trade-economic cooperation has been in a phase of steady development in recent years, recording high growth rates. The active dialogue that took place between government agencies in August 2025 highlights the significant potential for deepening economic cooperation and expanding mutual interests, it added.

Economic cooperation between the two countries has gradually expanded, encompassing new sectors.

“Cooperation is dynamically developing in industry, agriculture, construction, and several other fields. Notably, Iranian construction companies are involved in the construction of the North-South highway, a role that may further expand in the future,” the ministry said.

The Ministry of Economy of Armenia is confident that the Crossroads of Peace and TRIPP projects can serve as a new foundation for regional cooperation—promoting mutual trust, the development of infrastructure connectivity, and the expansion of trade and economic relations among all interested countries.

“These projects open up new horizons for cooperation, which, in turn, create promising prospects for strengthening and developing economic relations, as well as for establishing genuine and lasting peace in the region. We attach great importance to these opportunities and are ready to fully utilize them for the well-being of our states and peoples. We are confident that we will make use of the economic potential of all countries in the region, including with our friend, Iran,” the ministry said, adding that Iran’s geographic position, its integration into regional transport networks, and its ties with neighboring markets create broad opportunities for deepening Armenian-Iranian economic relations.
