Deputy FM of Armenia lauds positive dynamic with Azerbaijan after Washington accords

Armenia reiterates its readiness to sign and ratify the peace treaty with Azerbaijan, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said on Thursday.

Speaking at a press briefing, Kostanyan refuted the opposition’s claims that Armenia didn’t receive any benefits under the Washington accords signed on August 8.

“The Republic of Armenia has been given an opportunity to build a peaceful and sustainable region, and that process has already begun. We also have the opportunity to unblock all communications in our region, and we are working in that direction with our American partners," he said, referring to the TRIPP connectivity project. 

Deputy FM Vahan Kostanyan noted that the Armenian side has hope and confidence that the peace process will move in a positive direction.

"The overall dynamic we’ve observed since the meeting held in Washington on August 8 is assessed as positive. The statements made, including those from the White House, indicate that we are entering a period of stability and peace," the Deputy Foreign Minister said.
