Pashinyan chairs consultation on draft Framework Strategy for Green and Sustainable Economy

A consultation chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was held to discuss the draft Framework Strategy for the Development of a Green, Sustainable, and Circular Economy and the action plan developed on its basis.

During the meeting,they discussed the legal framework for the strategy, its main sectoral directions, implementation targets, general and sectoral goals, actions, and expected outcomes, the Prime Minister's Office said in a readout.

The planned measures will cover various sectors, including energy, transport, agriculture, urban development, production, industry and services.

According to the source, the strategy is expected to contribute to sustainable economic growth, the efficient use of natural resources, the creation of green jobs, the promotion of green public and private investments, enhanced productivity and competitiveness.

The strategy also envisages the introduction of a taxonomy, a classification system for green, transitional, and enabling programs and measures, as well as mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the transition to a green economy.

Discussions also addressed measures to encourage the use of electric vehicles, and details were presented regarding the framework of medium-term regulations.

Summing up the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of targeted measures that support sectoral policies and provided recommendations for further action.
