PM Pashinyan honors fallen troops on 44-Day War anniversary

27 September 2025 marks the fifth anniversary of the beginning of the 44-Day War.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan paid homage to the fallen troops on social media, posting a photo showing him kneeling at the recent party congress in honor of the fallen soldiers, and wrote in a post: “Glory to the martyrs and long live the Republic of Armenia.”

In the early hours of September 27, 2020, Azerbaijan launched an unprovoked military offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh. The war lasted 44 days and ended with a Russian-mediated ceasefire. The death toll on the Armenian side was 3,822, including over 100 civilians. As of 2022, nearly 190 troops and 21 civilians were still listed as missing. Azerbaijan reported nearly 3,000 casualties.
