Lawmakers propose January 27 as Day of Remembrance and Reverence to honor fallen troops

Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ruben Rubinyan and independent MP Gegham Nazaryan have co-drafted a bill proposing to designate January 27 as the “Day of Remembrance and Reverence,” to honor the memory of all those who have fallen in military operations throughout history.

In a statement on social media, Rubinyan said the bill would be circulated in the coming days.

“We need a special day to honor the memory of those who have fallen in military operations throughout all periods, and to bow in respect before all who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our homeland. According to the bill, that day will be January 27. Then, as usual, on January 28, we will mark and celebrate Army Day — as a symbol of willpower and the continuation of life,” he added.
