Armenian President, Amazon executives discuss AI, cybersecurity

President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, during his visit to New York, met with Franco Spicciariello, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Director of Public Policy for EU and Mediterranean Europe, and David Roth, Director for International Public Policy at Amazon.
During the meeting, the prospects for the development and application of high technologies in Armenia were discussed, emphasizing the significance of this sector for economic growth, fostering an innovative environment, and enhancing competitiveness, the President’s Office said in a press release.
The President highlighted the importance of effectively utilizing the potential of renewable energy, noting that it is not only crucial for strengthening energy security and sustainable development but can also become a reliable resource for the development of AI and the high-tech sector.
The possibilities for cooperation in the field of cybersecurity were also discussed, highlighting it as a key component for the stability of the information society and the effectiveness of public administration.
Both parties emphasized the need for experience exchange, joint projects, and the introduction of cutting-edge tools to ensure a high level of cybersecurity.
President Khachaturyan highly appreciated AWS’s ongoing support for the activities of the Virtual Institute of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The prospects for developing a joint program on the application of AI in the process of public policy development were also discussed, which would enable raising the efficiency of public administration to a new level and establishing an innovative political culture in Armenia.
