Russia's top senator congratulates Speaker Simonyan on Independence Day

Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko congratulated Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan on the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day.
“On behalf of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, I congratulate you on the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day. Russia and Armenia are bound by strong bonds of friendship. Our citizens are united by traditional spiritual and family values and the common contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Thanks to the accumulated positive political experience of cooperation, today we have the opportunity to expand Russian-Armenian ties in various sectors. I am confident that strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue will allow us to more effectively realize the existing potential of cooperation for the benefit of our countries,'' Matviyenko's message reads.
In her congratulatory message, Matviyenko also wished success to the Speaker of Armenia's National Assembly and its deputies in their legislative activities, as well as prosperity to the Armenian people.
Armenia will mark the 34th anniversary of its independence on September 21.
