Israeli airstrike in Qatar: Armenia expresses ‘deep concern’

Armenia has expressed deep concern over the “targeting of residential areas” in Qatar after Israel delivered an airstrike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha.

“Armenia is deeply concerned by the targeting of residential areas in Doha, & calls to all the involved parties for restraint to avoid further escalation of regional security situation,” the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a post on X.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has condemned the Israeli strike on Doha as “state terrorism.”

Israeli officials told Reuters the strike was aimed at top Hamas leaders including Khalil al-Hayya, its exiled Gaza chief and top negotiator.

Hamas has said five of its members were killed but claimed that an attempt to assassinate its negotiating team "failed".

Hamas said the negotiating team was meeting to discuss the latest US proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip at a residential compound in Doha when it was badly damaged by a series of explosions, according to the BBC.
