Iran reduces Australia's diplomatic presence in Tehran

Iran, in response to Australia's "unfriendly actions," has taken proportionate measures by expelling that country's ambassador.

"In accordance with diplomatic norms, the Islamic Republic of Iran has decided to reciprocally reduce the level of Australia’s diplomatic presence in Tehran," the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made the statement on Thursday in response to Canberra’s recent expulsion of the Iranian ambassador, IRNA reported.

“We do not welcome the downgrading of diplomatic relations, as we believe there is no justification for such a move. It negatively affects the ties between the two nations,” Baghaei said,

He noted that  Australia’s decision is "unjustifiable".
