President Khachaturyan holds meeting with Iraqi Agriculture Minister

President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received a delegation led by Iraq’s Minister of Agriculture Abbas Jabr Al-Maliki, who arrived in Yerevan to take part in the session of the Armenia-Iraq Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
According to the Presidential Office, the President described Iraq as an important and reliable partner of Armenia in the Middle East and highlighted the dynamic development of cooperation in trade, education, culture, humanitarian affairs and information technology.
Minister Maliki emphasized the significance of the Armenia-Iraq Business Forum in Yerevan as an effective platform for strengthening ties between business circles and stressed the need to hold such events on a regular basis.
The sides underscored the importance of closer cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. They meeting focused on the field of agriculture. It was noted that Armenian fruits, vegetables, livestock, meat, and dairy products could be of interest to the Iraqi market.
Discussions also focused on restoring direct flights, facilitating cargo transportation, and promoting bilateral investment opportunities.
