A Ukrainian ‘terrorist car bomb attack’ on the Crimean Bridge has been prevented, according to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), RT reported.
The explosive-laden electric car prepared by Kiev’s spy services has been intercepted and demined, RT reported citing a statement from FSB.
A Chevrolet Volt with a powerful improvised explosive device planted inside it had arrived in Russia from Ukraine via third countries, it said.
According to the FSB, the rigged vehicle had crossed into Russia from Georgia. The Ukrainian plan was to deliver the Chevrolet to Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region via a car transporter truck and then “pass it on to another driver, who was supposed to ride in it to Russia’s Crimea via the Crimean Bridge and become an unwitting suicide bomber,” the agency said.
“Despite all the trickery by the Ukrainian terrorists, the FSB officers managed to promptly uncover their plans, identify and defuse the explosive device… and also detain all those involved in its delivery to the territory of our country,” the FSB said.
