Iceland has welcomed the Washington accords signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8.
“Iceland welcomes the important steps taken by Armenia and Azerbaijan to end decades of conflict,” the foreign ministry of Iceland said in a post on X. “We strongly commend both countries and the United States for the historic efforts to secure lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus.”

Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a US-brokered joint declaration on the outcomes of the August 8 meeting. Notably, the two countries initialed the peace treaty and agreed on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) connectivity project.
