The unblocking of regional roads is in the interests of all countries in the region, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said, commenting on the results of the meeting between the leaders of Armenia, the United States, and Azerbaijan in Washington.
Grigoryan stressed that there can be no "corridor logic" when discussing the so-called “Trump Route,” as the trilateral declaration stipulates that unblocking in the region must be carried out on the basis of sovereignty, jurisdiction, territorial integrity, and the principle of reciprocity.
“This rules out any unblocking based on corridor logic. The lifting of the blockade will take place in line with these principles, so such a question should not arise. The unblocking of the region is in the interests of all countries,” he said.
He reminded that Armenia has announced it over the past 4-5 years, therefore Iran was also aware of Armenia's readiness to lift the blockade within the framework of the above-mentioned principles.
“Since Iran has previously stated its support for lifting the blockade within the framework of Armenia’s positions, I assume there will be support for unblocking, as Iran will also be interested in the lifting of the blockade in the region,” Grigoryan said.
