Former tax chief arrested

Vardan Harutyunyan, the former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, has been arrested on charges of money laundering and illegal entrepreneurship, authorities confirmed to Armenpress.

The charges also include anti-competitive practices, the Anti-Corruption Committee said.

Other details weren’t immediately clear but unconfirmed media reports indicate the investigation pertains to a firm called Norfolk. 

Harutyunyan served as SRC chief from 2016 to 2018.
