The Armenian government has adopted a decision at the Cabinet meeting pertaining to its 20% shares in Viva Armenia telecommunications operator.
The decision authorizes the government to sign a sale option contract with Viva Armenia shareholder Fedilco Group Limited.
The government had obtained the 20% shares in the mobile operator as a donation in February 2024 from the company itself.
The government clarified the August 7 decision later in the day through a statement.
It said the contract gives the government the right (and not an obligation) to sell its shares at any moment until May 15, 2028.
Whether or not the government will exercise its right to sell its shares worth 50 million dollars will be decided by the government according to expediency, the statement added.
