FC Pyunik head coach Yeghishe Melikyan has commented on media reports that the football federation has tapped him as replacement for national team manager John van 't Schip.
“No one has talked to me about taking over the national team,” Melikyan, a former football player, told reporters after the first round match in the Premier League. “I am aware of it [reports], but since there’s been no concrete proposal I can’t say anything specific. I can say that in the event of a concrete offer I won’t mind it, because I am an Armenian, a patriot,” he added.
Unconfirmed media reports indicate that the football federation has reportedly decided to sack John van 't Schip and replace him with Melikyan.
