US President Donald Trump said he would cut the timeline for Russian leader Vladimir Putin to reach a truce with Ukraine or face potential economic penalties, ramping up pressure on Moscow to bring the fighting to a halt, Bloomberg reported.
“I’m going to make a new deadline of about 10 — 10 or 12 days from today,” Trump told reporters in Scotland on Monday during talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
"It would be sanctions and maybe tariffs, secondary tariffs," Sky News quoted Trump as saying.
But the US president says "I don't want to do that to Russia".
"I love the Russian people, they're great people."
According to Sky News, Trump describes the conflict as a "really bloody war" and says making a deal would be "common sense".
