Levon Aronian defeats Hikaru Nakamura in Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour quarterfinals

Levon Aronian defeated world number two Hikaru Nakamura in the quarterfinals of the “Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour” Fischer Random rapid chess tournament in Las Vegas, the Chess Federation of Armenia has said.

In the semifinals, Aronian will face Arjun Erigaisi. Fabiano Caruana and Hans Moke Niemann will also compete against each other for a place in the final.

The first game of the semifinals is scheduled to start on July 18 at 22:00 Armenian time.

Earlier in the tournament, Grandmaster Levon Aronian scored a 2-0 victory over Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen in the tiebreak.
