Armenian, Bulgarian Foreign Ministries hold political consultations

Political consultations were held in Sofia between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Bulgaria. 

The delegations were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan and  Elena Shekerletova, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, the Armenian Foreign Ministry has said in a statement.

During the consultations, the parties commended the level of bilateral political dialogue, adding that it is necessary to take steps to further expand cooperation  in the fields of trade and economy, defence, transport, energy, tourism, culture and education.

The ongoing efforts aimed at deepening the Armenia-EU partnership  was discussed during the meeting. Possible support to be provided by Bulgaria was emphasised. 

The Deputy Minister thanked Bulgaria for supporting the launch of the Armenia-EU visa liberalization dialogue, while also emphasizing the importance of properly implementing the Visa Facilitation Agreement.   

The Deputy Minister presented to the Bulgarian side the current developments in the Armenia-Azerbaijan and Armenia-Türkiye normalization processes, as well as the "Crossroads of Peace" project of the Government of Armenia aimed at unblocking regional infrastructures.
