Armenia can become strong only when rule of law becomes non-negotiable - Speaker

Armenia can become a strong state only when the rule of law becomes a non-negotiable value, said Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan in a statement on the occasion of Constitution Day.

"Dear compatriots,

Today we celebrate the Constitution Day of the Republic of Armenia.

A day that symbolizes the level of our independent statehood, legal thinking, and civic maturity.

The Constitution is not merely a legal document. It is the expression of our identity, dignity and freedom. The Constitution is our collective oath to live by the law and be guided by justice.

As a President of the National Assembly, my clear conviction is that Armenia can become a strong state only when the law becomes a non-negotiable value. No one should be above the law, regardless of his/her status and position in society.

Dear compatriots, congratulating you on this important day, I reaffirm that we will continue to do everything possible to ensure that everyone in the Republic of Armenia is equal before the law,'' said Simonyan.
