EU reiterates support for Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization

The EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, reiterated support for Armenian–Azerbaijani normalization during her visit to Armenia on Monday.

“The EU strongly supports normalization between Armenia and Azerbaijan based on the principles of respect for territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the inviolability of borders,” EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said at a joint press conference with Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan.

“There is no alternative to these principles,” she added.

Kallas emphasized that Brussels is pleased to see the progress made in bilateral talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which “paves the way toward peace and stability in the region.”
