Authorities said the newspaper report alleging Armenia plans to “surrender another 180 square kilometers” of its territory to Azerbaijan in the delimitation process is fake news.
The office of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, who leads the Armenian government’s commission dealing with the border delimitation issues with Azerbaijan, refuted the report by Hraparak newspaper, which claimed to have obtained copies of maps showing the would-be border.
Grigoryan’s office said in a statement that the newspaper report is “entirely false and untrue.”
The report claimed that the border agreement has been made by Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan of Armenia, and Azeri president Ilham Aliyev’s top aide Hikmat Hajiyev.
Grigoryan’s office said all issues pertaining to the delimitation process are discussed exclusively within the framework of the joint activities of the Armenian and Azerbaijani border delimitation and border security commissions.
