Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has met with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.
FM Mirzoyan and Director-General Azoulay discussed “issues pertaining to Armenia’s active involvement in UNESCO, protection of cultural heritage in crisis situations and implementation of various programs,” the foreign ministry said in a readout.
FM Mirzoyan said that Armenia, during its membership in the UNESCO Executive Board, continues to be actively involved in implementing initiatives in line with the organization’s mandate despite various developments and difficulties.
An exchange of views around the work in various UNESCO bodies took place.
The support programs for forcibly displaced Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh were discussed.
The directions of Armenia-UNESCO cooperation within the framework of the COP17, to be held in Armenia in 2026, were discussed taking into account UNESCO’s significant experience and mechanisms in the given sector.
The Armenian Foreign Minister conveyed to UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay the Order of Friendship bestowed upon her by the President of Armenia for strengthening and developing cooperation between Armenia and UNESCO and significant contribution in protection of humanitarian values.
