The total number of inbound tourists in Armenia was 2 million 208 thousand in 2024, which is a 4,7% drop compared to 2023, finance minister Vahe Hovhannisyan has said.
Speaking at a joint parliamentary committee meeting on the 2024 state budget report, the minister said the main factor has been the decrease in the number of visitors from Russia.
“We predict that this trend is temporary. It is associated with the major inflow of Russian citizens into Armenia in 2022-2023 as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Now the abovementioned factors are gradually returning to normal levels,” he said.
