Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has held a meeting with Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Pashinyan welcomed Fico’s visit and attached importance to the further development of bilateral ties, his office said in a readout.

“We’ve already managed to discuss that a huge potential for developing our ties in all directions exists and your visit is a very good chance to once again outline these opportunities and focus on concrete directions to have a concrete roadmap,” Pashinyan said.

PM Pashinyan thanked PM Fico for supporting Armenia-related agendas.

“Today at the Yerevan Dialogue forum you reiterated your support for the peace agenda in the region and the presence of the EU monitoring mission in Armenia. I’d like to extend gratitude also on the occasion of holding the next year’s European Political Community summit in Armenia in spring,” Pashinyan said, expressing hope that PM Fico will visit Armenia next year again.

In turn, PM Fico invited PM Pashinyan to pay an official visit to Slovakia.

“Our one-on-one meeting comes to affirm that we have topics of mutual interest, therefore we would like to warmly host you in Slovakia with the same hospitality. On behalf of the whole delegation of Slovakia, I thank you for the hospitality and friendship. When I was preparing for the meeting, honorable Mr. Prime Minister, I studied all documents in detail for preparation. I am pleased to note that we were able to discuss the issues even without those documents because we have topics of mutual interest,” PM Fico said.

The prime ministers discussed the development of trade-economic relations, expansion of business ties, partnership in industry, agriculture and energy.

PM Pashinyan and PM Fico underscored the need for intensifying bilateral cooperation and attached importance to organizing high-level mutual visits. They exchanged views around the further development of the Armenia-EU ties and advancing the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia.

The Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process and latest developments were also addressed.

PM Fico expressed Slovakia’s support to the Armenian government’s peace agenda for the benefit of regional stability and cooperation.
