Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said Monday that developing relations with Armenia is among his country’s priorities.

He made the remarks at the Yerevan Dialogue 2025 forum.

“This is a very important forum to discuss regional and global issues of vital importance,” Fico said.

“Our efforts aimed at promoting peace, as well as deepening relations with Armenia are among our priorities,” Fico said, presenting Slovakia’s foreign policy priorities.

He said Armenia and Slovakia have developed good-neighborly relations based on common Christian values.

He said trade ties have been growing between the two countries in various areas, such as energy, defense and tourism.

“We support the close cooperation and relations between Armenia and the EU,” Fico said, adding that Slovakia is ready to share its experience in economic and social reforms to contribute to the signing of the Armenia-EU partnership deal and visa liberalization dialogue.

Fico said Slovakia will continue to support the EU monitoring mission’s presence in Armenia.

“Slovakia and Armenia have been closely cooperating also in the context of the peacekeeping activities in Kosovo. We highly appreciate Armenia’s contribution in the stability of the Western Balkans. The Armenian PM’s efforts for signing the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty are also commendable,” Fico said, adding that the signing of the Armenian-Azeri peace treaty would send a strong message to Europe that conflicts can be resolved diplomatically.
