Armenian President meets with China Earthquake Administration chief

President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan has met with Wang Kun, the Administrator of the China Earthquake Administration.
The President extended gratitude for the effective Armenian-Chinese cooperation and investments in seismic research over the past five years, Khachaturyan’s office said in a press release.
Dr. Kun said he is visiting Armenia for the first time and that he was impressed by the country and the activities of his Armenian colleagues and the National Academy of Sciences.
The expansion of Armenian-Chinese cooperation in seismic safety and related areas was discussed.
The sides attached importance to the scientific-technological developments in earthquake prediction and overall geophysical studies not only in terms of seismology, but also economic, mining and infrastructure development.
The importance of data exchange, joint scientific projects and professional training partnership programs was underscored.
On May 22, an Armenian-Chinese seismic monitoring center was inaugurated in Gyumri.
