Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a condolence message to Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals of the Holy See, on the death of His Holiness Pope Francis.

According to the PM's office, the condolence message reads:

“Your Eminence,

It is with deep sorrow that I received the news of the death of His Holiness Pope Francis. On behalf of myself and the people of Armenia, please accept our deepest condolences.

His Holiness’s outstanding leadership and efforts in promoting peace, spreading universal values, establishing solidarity among peoples, and protecting human rights and freedoms are invaluable.

Pope Francis will remain in all of our memories as a pioneer of mercifulness and humanitarian ideas, whose constant attention was also focused on the issue of peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

We deeply share the grief of believers around the world over this great loss.”
