Economic development is Armenia’s state interest, PM Pashinyan says at business forum

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reiterated on Friday that economic development is Armenia’s state interest.

“For me, this discussion is about how we, the government and the private sector, are together serving the state interest of the Republic of Armenia with the understanding that economic development is the state interest of the Republic of Armenia,” Pashinyan said at a business forum in Dilijan.

“After each time I say this, I say it more confidently because it’s the economic development or its subsequent effects that should either give us opportunities or restrict our opportunities to determine and resolve long-term objectives. And in this regard, I certainly have an objective, as a result of this forum it is important for me to understand what kind of an atmosphere exists in the business environment, what problems exist, what were the problems that existed but don’t exist anymore, which are the persisting problems, what new problems have emerged and so on. It is highly important for us to be able to make today’s discussion productive,” Pashinyan said.

The PM expressed hope that “as a result of the discussion we will have many concrete ideas about what has to be done and we will understand to what extent and how the government’s programs are perceived by the business community.”
