National Assembly Human Rights Committee members, GRETA experts discuss protection of trafficking victims’ rights

On April 16, the Deputy Chair of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Rustam Bakoyan, the Committee Members Marina Ghazaryan and Tigran Parsilyan met with a Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA), the Parliament has said in a statement.

During the meeting issues regarding the protection of the rights of persons subjected to trafficking or exploitation were discussed.

The MPs presented to the CoE experts the legislative regulations aimed at combating trafficking in our country and the planned actions in that direction.

 In this context Rustam Bakoyan noted that the Armenia's Law On Identification and Assistance to Persons Subjected to Trafficking or Exploitation of Human Beings was amended several times over time, making its implementation more effective.

Besides, Armenia joined the main international conventions on combating trafficking, and in order to localise the provisions of these conventions, a number of legislative amendments were implemented, and relevant sub-legislative normative acts were adopted, including decisions and regulations ensuring the implementation of laws.
