Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon lauded on April 16 in Yerevan Armenia’s efforts aimed at peace, expressing hope for a swift signing of the Armenian-Azeri peace deal.

“We highly value Armenia’s efforts for peace, the agenda of peace,” Fajon said at a joint press conference with Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan.

“I am very happy that today, in this region, there is a situation when Armenia and Azerbaijan face an important step to normalize bilateral relations. I appreciate the huge work that Armenia has been doing in this peace initiative, because peace is useful for every party in the region. We encourage and welcome the conclusion of the text of the draft peace agreement. We hope that the signing will take place soon, and the tension in this region will reduce,” the Slovenian FM said.

Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan would lead to positive developments for the region, she added.

Armenia has numerously expressed readiness to sign the peace agreement as soon as possible and offered Azerbaijan to start talks on choosing a venue and date, but Baku has been stalling the process.
