Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process is ‘commendable’, says Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Friday with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, among other visiting foreign heads of state, during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 in the Turkish resort town Antalya.
The Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization was discussed during the meeting with Aliyev, Erdogan’s office said in a readout.
During his meeting with Aliyev, Erdogan “stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, especially in energy, transportation, and defense.”
“Expressing that the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia is commendable, President Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye wishes to see Azerbaijan as the architect of peace in the South Caucasus and added that Türkiye is carefully continuing the normalization process with Armenia,” the Turkish Directorate of Communications said on X.
