Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced the formation of the Public Council.
In a statement, Pashinyan said he had nominated the candidacy for Chairman of the Public Council from 45 elected members of the council to the Cabinet’s approval.
Arayik Khzmalyan has been appointed Chairman of the Public Council by the decision of the Cabinet, Pashinyan said. “The Public Council is considered as formed effective April 10, 2025,” he added.
The Public Council is a consultative body that was launched in 2008.
The post of Chairman of the Public Council had been vacant since 2021, when then-Chairman Styopa Safaryan stepped down to run for parliament. Posts of all members were also vacant since 2021.
