Foreign Minister Mirzoyan, EU Special Representative discuss regional issues

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met on Thursday with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono.

The parties focused on regional issues, emphasizing efforts to establish lasting peace in the South Caucasus.

Regarding the process of normalizing relations with Azerbaijan, FM Mirzoyan underscored the importance of signing the "Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations," which was agreed upon after extensive negotiations.

The meeting also addressed the unblocking of regional communications, in which context the Armenian Foreign Minister reiterated Armenia’s proposals based on fundamental principles of international law.

The sides further discussed humanitarian issues, including the fate of missing persons and the return of Armenian prisoners of war and detained civilians.

The interlocutors also reviewed steps to deepen the Armenia-EU partnership, aiming for the most effective use of existing cooperation tools.
