Armenia, UAE discuss expansion of economic ties

Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan on March 28 held a meeting with Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Nariman Al Mulla.

Papoyan lauded the close cooperation with the UAE over the course of the past few years, especially in the economy sector, the ministry said in a readout.

“The UAE currently leads the list of top exporters and importers of Armenia, which is a testament to the developed trust and cooperation. At the same time, there is still great untapped potential and I am sure that we will achieve greater results by utilizing it,” Papoyan said.

The sides discussed possibilities of expanding economic cooperation, as well as strengthening business ties through various format meetings.

The development of partnership in tourism was highlighted, especially in directions of medical tourism and skiing tourism.

Minister Papoyan said Armenia is interested in attracting foreign investments in the hospitality industry (hotel business), both in Yerevan and in other Armenian cities, which could significantly contribute to development of tourism.

The Tourism Committee chief Lusine Gevorgyan also participated in the meeting.
