Armenian, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokespersons highlight need for effective mechanisms against disinformation

On March 25, within the framework of the official visit of Foreign Minister of Iran to Armenia, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia between the spokespersons of the foreign ministries of Armenia and Iran Ani Badalyan and Esmaeil Baghaei, the Armenian Foreign Ministry has said in a statement.

The interlocutors discussed issues of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries in the field of strategic communication.

They emphasized the readiness to further develop active interaction between the press services of the two foreign ministries and to implement initiatives, in line with the high-level political dialogue between Armenia and Iran. Views were exchanged on opportunities for cooperation between media outlets and implementation of programs for mutual visits of journalists.

Ani Badalyan and Esmaeil Baghaei addressed the importance of applying effective mechanisms against disinformation, taking into account current regional developments as well.

Given the significant public attention regarding the topic of unblocking regional communications, the interlocutors touched upon the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the government of Armenia and underscored the importance of continuous public communication regarding the unconditional respect for the key principles underlying this initiative.
