Armenia national football team new manager shares first impressions, discusses upcoming match with Georgia

The newly appointed head coach of the Armenian national football team, John van't Schip, has positive expectations for the match as part of the Nations League.

"We had limited time to prepare for the first match, but the dedication of the football team members is evident. The players are ready to do what we ask them. As for the upcoming match against Georgia, we will try to create serious difficulties for them," he said.

Commenting on the invitation from the Football Federation of Armenia, van't Schip emphasized that he was impressed with the project presented by Armenia and appreciated the football infrastructure in Armenia.

“I was ready to start working as a coach again and wanted to work on projects like those I previously did with the Greek national team and Ajax. My immediate goal is to achieve positive results in the upcoming two games against Georgia, and in the more distant future, our goal is successful participation in the Nations League qualifying round for the World Cup,” he said.

Speaking about his first impressions of Armenia, the coach noted, "The food here is wonderful, the weather has been excellent so far, and I really love Yerevan.''

As part of the UEFA Nations League play-off round, the Armenian national team will host the Georgian national team in Yerevan on March 20 (kick-off: 9:00 PM), with the return match taking place on March 23 (kick-off: 6:00 PM).

The winner will secure the right to play in Nations League Group B.
