Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan hosted a delegation led by Eugene Zhukov, Director General of the ADB Central and West Asia Regional Department.
Discussing joint initiatives, the parties noted that the effective cooperation established between Yerevan City Hall and the ADB serves as a solid basis for implementing new projects, Yerevan City Hall said in a readout.
Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized that, beyond ongoing programs, Yerevan City Hall has an impressive portfolio of new projects with the ADB. These initiatives represent a significant contribution to the city's sustainable and prosperous future via modernization of infrastructures and "green" initiatives.
"Large-scale urban development projects take into account areas with great potential for creating new environments and solving long-standing challenges. The ADB's support helps us design thoughtful, sustainable investment programs and address financing issues," highlighted Mayor Avinyan.
The parties also discussed the progress of the ongoing "Urban Sustainable Development Investment Program," affirming that despite certain deviations from the initial timeline, every effort will be made to begin construction on the Isakov-Arshakunyats road section this year.
Yerevan's key priorities are procurement of 250 new electric buses and reconstruction of depots, formation of a forest park of over 230 hectares in the Dalma Gardens, rebuilding Noragyugh, modernizing the metro system, and constructing the Tbilisyan highway-Yeghvard road section, among other projects.
Zhukov expressed gratitude for the commitment to expanding collaboration and emphasized that the Yerevan Municipality is a reliable partner for the bank. He reaffirmed the ADB’s readiness to support the realization of new projects.
