Egypt welcomes finalization of peace treaty talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan

Egypt has welcomed the finalization of the talks around the terms of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
In a statement, the Egyptian foreign ministry said it “welcomes the completion of the negotiations around the draft peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which contributes to the end of the conflict between the two countries, establishment of peace in the South Caucasus region, as well as shaping a more stable and secure future for the region.”
It added that the completion of the talks is the result of the efforts of both countries, which shows the desire to swiftly sign the peace treaty.
The governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan announced on March 13 that the negotiations around the peace treaty terms have been successfully concluded. The Armenian government has expressed readiness to start discussions with Azerbaijan around the date and venue of signing the agreement.
