The United States Department of Defense has declined to comment on equipment movements when asked about the validity of the Russian state-run RT news article claiming that the United States plans to move military equipment from Germany to Armenia for possible joint drills.
“The United States strongly values our relationship with Armenia. The Department of Defense does not comment on equipment movements for operational security reasons,” a U.S. defense official told Armenpress when asked to comment on the report.
The Armenian defense ministry hasn’t yet commented on the report.
RT, citing documents reviewed by the agency, reported that the U.S. will move hundreds of units of military equipment from its bases in Germany to Armenia in July. The transfer would reportedly take place through Georgian territory. RT reported that the move could be linked with possible joint drills.
