President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier to visit Armenia

President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier will soon visit Armenia, his office announced.
The two-day visit to Armenia will be followed by a trip to Azerbaijan.
“Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and [first lady]Elke Büdenbender will visit the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan from 30 March to 2 April,” the German president’s office said.
It will be the first time that a German Federal President has visited either country.
“In Armenia, the Federal President will meet with President Vahagn Khachaturyan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for talks in Yerevan. He will also visit the TUMO technology education centre and attend a cultural reception. On his second day in Armenia, the Federal President will travel to Dilijan. He will talk to Armenian women entrepreneurs and visit an urban development project there. At Lake Sevan, he will visit an Armenian church and a hydrometeorology and monitoring centre that is run in partnership with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research. During his visit to Azerbaijan, the Federal President will meet with President Ilham Aliyev. He will visit Baku’s historic city centre, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and hold a conversation on interfaith understanding and tolerance with Christian, Muslim and Jewish religious leaders. He will also join a discussion on the situation of women in Azerbaijan,” the German presidency said in a statement.
