Organization of Islamic Cooperation welcomes conclusion of Armenia-Azerbaijan talks

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the conclusion of the Armenia-Azerbaijan talks on the terms of the peace treaty.

“The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the completion of negotiations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia on the text of a draft peace agreement and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states,” the OIC said in a statement. “The General Secretariat commended the agreement which will strengthen the foundations of security and stability in the Caucasus region and confirm the effectiveness of peaceful means in resolving conflicts worldwide.
The OIC General Secretariat reiterates its full support for the continuation of bilateral dialogue between the two countries within the framework of the process of normalizing relations between them.”

The governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan announced on March 13 that the negotiations around the peace treaty terms have been successfully concluded. The Armenian government has expressed readiness to start discussions with Azerbaijan around the date and location of signing the agreement.
