Armenian weightlifter Alexandra Grigoryan is nominated for the first-ever EWF-AIPS Europe RISING STAR of 2024 Award, the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) announced on Friday.
“This award will recognize the best young lifters of the year—athletes who have delivered big performances, shown incredible potential, and proven they’re the future of European weightlifting,” the EWF said.
Grigoryan, a member of the Armenian national weightlifting women’s team, won gold at the European championships in 2024 at just 19 years old. She then won bronze at the world championships and was named Best Woman Athlete of Armenia in 2024.
The EWF has partnered with the International Sports Press Association Europe (AIPS) for the awards.
The award will be presented during the opening ceremony of the 2025 EWF Senior Championships in Chișinău, Moldova.
