Journalists from Turkey who arrived in Armenia as part of a media tour organized for Turkish media outlets, visited the Margara checkpoint on the Armenian-Turkish border.
The media representatives familiarized themselves with the renovated checkpoint and its technical capabilities. It was noted that the checkpoint is fully ready for operation.
A correspondent from Agos newspaper conducted an on-site interview with Armen Petrosyan, an expert at the Orbeli Center. In an article published in the newspaper, Petrosyan shared details about the renovation process of the Margara checkpoint.
"Representatives of Turkey and Armenia have been holding various meetings for a long time, and both sides have made positive progress. Following this, Armenia initiated the renovation of the Margara border checkpoint, a process that lasted a year. The road leading to the checkpoint from Armenia was also renovated.
The checkpoint was ready in 2023. After the earthquake in Turkey on February 6, it was opened for humanitarian aid and trucks by the decision of both sides. This demonstrated that the checkpoint is fully capable of operating at its full potential," Petrosyan noted.
