Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman meets with Zelenskyy

Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman Al Saud has met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Jeddah.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed aspects of the bilateral relations and discussed the latest developments and the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.

“HRH the Crown Prince affirmed the Kingdom's commitment to supporting all international efforts aimed at resolving the crisis and achieving peace. For his part, President Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the Kingdom's efforts, highlighting its pivotal role in the Middle East and around the world,” the report said.

The meeting took place ahead of talks between Ukrainian and U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia, which Zelenskyy himself will not attend. Ukraine will be represented by other high-ranking officials, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead the U.S. delegation.

Talks on Tuesday between U.S. and Ukrainian officials on prospects of ending the Russia-Ukraine war are the first official meeting since the Ukrainian leader’s White House visit, which ended in a scandalous shouting match with President Trump.
